Unresolved journey fare from Watford Junction now 5.50?
Just been putting my journey history into a spreadsheet to check it and
I've just noticed that the Entry charge at Watford Junction at peak time
is now 5.50 (on the 16th May it was 5.00 entry and on the 19th May it
was 5.50 Entry)

I used to find a lot of "missing" entries on my journey history - the
balance would be correct but there'd be either an entry or an exit
missing, or, indeed an entire journey missing - so you'd get something
like:

Watford Junction Exit 0.00 22.50
Euston Entry -5.00 12.00

Where the entire journey from Watford Junction to Euston was missing -
which could be spotted because the balance was 5.50 less than the cost
of the journeys.

This latest set of data I've only found one "missing" entry but, as it
was an exit at Euston where there would now be no adjusting charge, I
can't actually tell if this really is an unresolved journey or whether
it's just another missing entry.

Presumably this is because there were lots of people failing to touch
out at Euston - the 08:06 train goes into platforms 16-18 which means
that people can avoid touching out.

Is there anywhere else where the unresolved journey fare is more than
5.00?

Actually this is a really good change because the oyster readers on
platforms 16-18 aren't very reliable. Particularly the one that isn't at
the bottom of the ramp up to the concourse which often doesn't work at
all. Given that I wan't to leave the station, it's a pain having to go
over to the ramp (which is congested with people) just to touch out. Now
I don't need to bother.

Also, very occasionally, a train will arrive at platform 12. Again
there's no need now to make my way down to the readers at platforms 8-11
just to pay an extra 50p.

Tim.

Beat TfL at their own fraudulent game. When you touch in at watford
immediately touch out again. This will activate Oyster scam #1 - it'll
charge you a quid for the priviledge of going in out out of the
station. However , it is a completed journey which means at euston you
can breeze out without worrying about being stung by Osyter scam #2 -
the uncompleted journey ripoff when you next touch in.

I should add - without actually going back out through the gate. In
fact you can touch out on a no-exit gate reader and it'll still
subtract a quid and complete the journey on the card.
