From the ftr FAQ...
As I'll now be using the ftrs more, I decided I should get a 10-journey
ticket, rather than faff around trying to make sure I have 1.50 or 2.50
all the time.

While looking for info on where I could get these things, I stumbled
across this gem in the FAQ...

"Why are journeys quicker on ftr?

Special measures such as traffic light priority systems are being
installed allowing ftr to sweep past traffic. The automated ticketing
machine will also reduce boarding times resulting in shorter journey
times."

So when will these ftrs get to York, to replace the ones we have now that
get stuck in the traffic like everything else, and have the slowest
ticketing system I've ever seen on a bus? You can't do much about York
traffic, but the ticket machine is a joke.

When the ftrs started they had this problem (except the machine was
usually broken so everyone got a free ride). I haven't used the bus much
over summer (fair weather cyclist :)) but I wasn't rather unimpressed (but
not that surpised) it STILL hasn't been sorted.

IMHO, they either need smartcard technology (oystercard style) or
conductors (preferabaly the latter). It's meant to be a "flagship bus
service" - if this is the future of travel, I'd better save up for a car.

Sorry, rant over!

Cheers

Chris
