Lets hope the drivers are not like the STC driver that I had the un
fortune misfortune to encounter this afternoon first of all he drove
over the railway bridge near the stop so fast I thought the Optar was
going to take off . Next it took him about 8 car lengths to stop for
me to get on board and my arm was out when the bus came over the top
of the bridge so there was no excuse for not being able to stop at the
bus stop apart from the sheer speed he was going at or he was partly
sighted which subsequent events convinced me more and more that he
 was .
So I sticks my pass on the machine tells the idiot where I was going
and sits down on checking my ticket it was showing the wrong boarding
point and alighting point the bus moves of and believe me he drove
like a F*****G madman . From where I was seated I could see the Speedo
and for the most part he was doing 50mph at first in a 40 and then for
the longest stretch of the journey in a 30 . When he approached a part
of the road where traffic was bunching up due to keeping within the
speed limit he carried on at the speed he was doing right up to the
last second before hitting the brakes hard throwing myself and the
only other passenger forward .
Every turn and bend he attempted to go round on TWO wheels and on a
stretch of road where there are speed humps I and the other blokes
heads where nearly hitting the roof .
I don't scare easily having spent from 1963 until 84 driving buses but
by golly that man put the s**t's up me good and proper and come Monday
morning I shall attempt to get the same done to him , as luck would
have it I happen to know the STC district traffic super at Preston
quite well he was only a young 18 year old conductor when I finished
at Ribble Motors and words will be spoken .
