Quote:

A public inquiry was held on 14 April 2008. "
Have I got this right? A complaint (presumably corroborated with evidence)
was laid before the TA. An investigation began in Aug 06, but it took 19
MONTHS before a public enquiry was held? I wonder how many coaches were
driven into brick walls in this time? How inept does a Government Department
have to be in this country? Makes the Child Support Agency look almost
efficient.

Re: Browns of Edinburgh
I guess the TA has a heavy workload up here, having had First Bus (several
times),
Arriva, and many others up before her in the last couple of years.
I have been to a few of the hearings, as a spectator I hasten to add, and
found her to be very fair and understanding of the problems facing
operators,
but recently she has been turning the screw on operators who were flagrantly
breaking the law either in respect of maintenance or driving hours
regulations.
Incidentally Browns have a high spec. fleet of coaches catering mostly for
the
incoming tourist market from places such as America and Japan.
In a similar case of another operator in the area, another family member
applied for and
received new licences and the company continues to trade with the same name!
