Bye bye Bendy Bus
I hope someone is watching the clock to see how long it takes Boris to
keep his promise on getting rid of Bendy buses and introducing a new
route master.

Lets see if it was all hot air !

Might not be any new bendy bus routes, but alternatives will all be modern
double deckers, not a "new" Routemaster clone.

What's wrong with bendy buses? I've been on one from the centre of
Paris to the Charles de Gaulle Airport!

There have been few problems in Manchester. The first batch had a few
mechanical problems, small fires I believe. The second batch have no
such problems but a little more thought could have gone into matching
the fleet numbers and vehicle registration plates!

12002 (YN05 GYB)
12003 (YN05 GYH)
12004 (YN05 GYJ) etc

I was on one of the Manchester ones last Saturday and to be honest it
was the most uncomfortable bus ride I have had for quite sometime
a bus with flat tyres would have been less bumpy .

Was it one of the 05 regs or the older ones?

Didn't take much notice I had come from Wigan on the X32 service which
goes to Piccadilly at Salford Uni and having asked the driver how to
get to Shude Hill and he stopped at the Uni and said get on the bus
that was behind and it was a bendy bus.
I would not have liked to have traveled for any longer than the
five/ten minutes I was on the damned thing though .

I suppose but once it has worked its way to the A 580 it does a good
fast sprint into Manchester, would'nt the X43 I think it is Manchester
Burnley be longer than the X 32 though ?. I have traveled on quite a
few " First's"buses over the last couple of months but have yet to
find one with comfortable seats been like sitting on planks of wood,
the best for seating I have found up to now are our local companies
buses" J Fishwicks&Sons" and "Transdev" buses that work the east
Lancashire routes and west Yorkshire and also Blackburn city services.
Even our local Stagecoach buses are dead uncomfortable to ride any
distance in.

Be grateful you don't travel in Germany, then.
Most modern buses (and the newer local trains) in Germany have seats
which appear to be designed to make standing the more comfortable
option.

A day's travelling around (for example) Nordrhein-Westfalen (Cologne,
Dortmund and so on) leaves one with a severely numb bum... :-(

I haven't traveled in Germany since I came out of the army but I do
travel in Belgium four times a year and the line I travel on Brussels
to De Panne the trains always have old coaches with the imitation
leather seats or is it plastic . By the time I leave the train after a
1 and 3/4 hour journey I have worked up a real sweat in the lower
reaches bloody horrible first thing a shower and a change of clothes
when I get to my hotel :))).

It would be if the 32 was classed by First as an express bus strange
really when they have the X34 in the same area and the Stagecoach i
think there Enviros are awful to sit on

Ever since STG started running their Enviros in the Preston area I
have been promising myself a trip on one they only seem to employ them
on two of their services the 2 which is the Longridge Southport and
the X 2 Preston-Liverpool.
I do think the Enviros are a very pleasant looking bus but from what
you are saying they are another good design spoiled by the poor
seating in fact just has their newish single deck buses are .Problem
in many cases is that some people are never satisfied Preston Bus have
just bought some new Optars especially for the two park&Ride services
which they operate .
These vehicles in my opinion are again very nice looking and they do
have good seating going on what I have read but there was one pillock
complaining bitterly in the local paper about these vehicles being
fitted with leather seats, he was of course one these silly none meat
eaters .
