Stagecoach looks better personally I don't like all the red on the
front end over all rather drab looking but beauty lies in the eye of
the beholder what pleases one doesn't please another regarding color
schemes .

Buses should be red all over. But then I was brought up in London so I'm
biased ;-)

Doesn't that devalue the brand somewhat when they aren't "express" at
all?

Indeed.

As in "brought up in London admiring those lovely provincial 'Midland
Red' buses" I assume, Ivor?! ;-)
On a serious note, I think the absence of blue on the news NXWM design
makes them look a bit insipid.

And First and always there first, and Stagecoach don't have 2 horses
on the front!
On a completely seperate note does anyone know what Stagecoach in
Warwickshire current driver's pay rates are

Selling up in the West Midlands if the rumours are true, with Arriva
being name shouted the loudest

Very interesting but not hugely surprising given the cutbacks. Arriva in
the Midlands seem to be able to get money for new vehicle, route
investment and takeovers. I can see how some of the Diamond network
might be attractive to them but overall this simply shows how massively
dominant TWM - oops sorry NXWM - are.

Interesting. I miss Diamond on one of "my" routes (the 120) as their
vehicles were well turned out and the loss of them halved the daytime
frequent. (TWM have put it up a bit since but it's still only 2/3 of
what it was.)

I would have thought the same. Certainly their new broom came as a bit
of a shock to the former Guide Friday then City Sightseeing staff when
Stagecoach acquired the Stratford Tour operation. Not particularly for
money I understand but for conditions of employment.

While I've never ridden one of their buses, they do look well
turned-out and professional for an independent.

They are not an independant, they are part of Go-Ahead group, a large
PLC

<Gap inserted to placate Ivor>
Indeed. However, when they *were* an independent they had at least as
smart an image as they did afterwards, possibly more so. Their initial
fleet of Leyland Nationals were always a cut above similar vehicles run
by similar small operators at the time and in particular their smart
their staff uniforms looked very much like something "from the old
days".
