VINTAGE BUSES GO UP IN FLAMES
Date : 21.02.07
Six vintage buses worth £100,000 have been destroyed in a suspected
arson attack at the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre today.
One of the destroyed buses - an AC Renown - is so rare there are only
two in the country.
The blaze broke out just after 6am, at centre in Mere Way, Ruddington.
Up to 15 firefighters spent an hour attempting to put out the flames
which spread quickly through the buses which were all parked together.
This morning the buses, which were being restored by volunteers, lay
twisted and mangled inside the centre's forecourt.
Centre manager Arthur Barber described the fire as "heartbreaking".
Fire officers are investigating the cause of the blaze.
