Special Last Day Services for Bristol VR Buses on Saturday 9th December
On Saturday 9th December 2006, First Devon and Cornwall will bid a
fond farewell to the final three of its most iconic double deckers.
The distinctive Bristol VR's joined the then Western National Omnibus
fleet in 1969, quickly becoming the 'familiar face' of Cornish buses.
An accolade affectionately held ever since.
To ensure the double deckers are given the send off they truly
deserve, the buses are going out and about for one final days work.
Passengers wishing to take a trip down memory lane can catch one of
the vintage vehicles, on the following three services:
Service 1/1A Penzance - Lands End
Service 2/2B Penzance - Helston
Service 17/17A Penzance - St Ives
The first service of the day (Service 1) will depart Penzance at
09.20. The final trip (Service 2) will depart Helston at 23.57. Please
contact Mel Williams Senior Manager Cornwall at the First Depot in
Camborne Bus Station on 01209 722610 for more information.
The day is being supported by the West County Historic Omnibus and
Transport Trust (WHOTT). WHOTT's own vintage buses (donated to the
Trust by FirstGroup); will take part in a parade through Penzance. The
convoy will start from Penzance bus station at 14.00hrs.
Taking in the Cornish sights, passengers will also be given a special
commemorative ticket, making this truly a day to remember!
