Bus Photography problems, Birmingham City Centre
I had a bit of an embarrassing experience this morning taking a
photograph of a bus in Birmingham city Centre.
I'm having a rare Saturday off so I went to do a bit of shopping and to
take some photographs (actually of the Victoria law Courts and Methodist
Central Hall) for a lecture I'm doing shortly.
While there, one of the new(ish) Scania Omnicity articulated buses hove
into view so I took a couple of photographs. To my amazement, as a I
was walking away, the driver bounded out of his can and came over in a
*really* aggressive matter wanting to know why I was taking photographs
and pointing out that it was illegal. I did try (actually rather
lamely) to point out that I was photographing the bus rather than him.
He then called me a "f*****g tosser" and threatened to have the law on
me. A bit shaken, I left.
Now I have had a similar problem in the past (actually several times but
all on the same day, when I first bought a digital camera!) but never
since. I am, though, always a bit circumspect (=cautious) about
photographing in a bus station or similar, which is obviously private
property. But he wasn't visible in the photographs and to be honest
*any* photograph will always have people visible in it.
Now obviously his behaviour was unacceptable and I'm sending off a note
to Travel West Midlands. But doe anyone here have any thoughts on
this?
