A lot of Christians aren't very clear on what they believe, and become
agitated if you ask them.

All those who attempt to proselytize, and a few others.

Nearly all of them. Only a fraction of devout Christians have any kind of
solid handle on their belief system, and since most of them subconsciously
have doubts about the veracity of it all, questioning them makes them
extremely uneasy. Of course, this phenomenon isn't at all limited to
Christianity.

Were they all Jehovah's Witnesses?

Only one or two that I can recall. A great many Christian sects actively
proselytize.
