I don't know if it was co-incidence, or part of a plan, but I recall 
there *were* drinks on Emirates headed for the UK, but none offered on 
the way out.

There are plenty of drinks available in the hotel bars, and airports; 
but expensive - I think a pint of lager at Dubai airport was about a 
fiver.
