Air travel is dangerous innit.
Excluding todays incident, and estimated 108 people have died world
wide in air disasters this year.
Last year 580, including 13 people on the ground.
2006- 561
2005- 927 + a few on the ground.
2004- 284
Yes we should really be worried about air disasters.

If your name is Duhg no doubt. But balance that against the number of
passengers that travel by air and you will see that its actually the
safest way to travel.

Yes it is curious isn't it, Jhno, that so much media attention is
given to air crashes and so little to car crashes, when the latter
cause far more deaths and serious injuries.

Of course smoking causes orders of magnitudes more deaths than driving

All a matter of scale. If there's a huge motorway pile up with many dead,
then yes, it makes big news. The higher the body count, the bigger the story
[1]. It has always been thus.
[1]Not forgetting the nationality factor, i.e. 1 dead Brit os equivalent in
news terms to 10 dead white Europeans/Americans or 1000 dead Africans/Asians

And there are more fatal accidents in the home each year than on the
road.
So maybe Bollen should be evicted from his council flat for his own
protection.
