[OT] Woo Hoo!
Heck, my home is carbon neutral at last. The last item to sort out was
completed this week as we moved to 100% hydro for electricity.

I wonder what the residents of Catford did for the environment this
week? Moaning and groaning doesn't count.

Typical Dzhugashvili comment. So instead of congratulating Firth on
reducing his carbon footprint, something you "claim" to be in favour
of, you just dis. him with your comments.

Firth has done something, at probably considerable expense, that you
appear not have have managed yourself, and are unlikely to do. Why not
say "Well done". Are you true an environmentalist, or just anti-car
and anti-plane?

He is very anti car and anti plane. Have you never noticed that he'll
support any anti car measure even if it conflicts with his other
outspoken view points.

Its funny that someone who has lifetime of pollution behind him
defends it by saying "I do far better now" but still attacks others
who are making improvements for not doing enough.

Doug seems to have this view that he's better than everyone because
their car pollution automatically makes them worse than him.

The funny thing is that now that I'm getting rid of my car this
weekend, and after the recent green improvements to my home, I'm much
less polluting than him based on his last stated figures. Whats funny
is that instead of congratulating my I can be assured that he'll find
some way off dismissing what I've done and will still declare himself
better than me.

The best bit is that he'll no longer be able to moan about me being a
motorist for a while.

Anyone else who makes such a claim is obviously lying (according to

Given that Golltard insists on calling one of the regular posters on
here (can't remember who) a motorist, despite the fact that said
poster has stated on several occasions that he does not run a car, I
think this is wishful thinking on your behalf.

Oh look Doug is in happy mode.
Congratulations on your achievement, no he did not say that.
That good, its one step forward, no he did not say that.
Could you tell us how you made that progress, no he did not say that.
A posative comment, no he did not say that.

A complete negative comment, bringing cars into the thread, yes he did
do that.

His comment also demonstrates the extent to which his views are pseudo-
religious. It reminds of the Christian approach "you can live as good
a life as you like, but if you don't accept Jesus as your saviour you
cannot be saved". In DougWorld, you can reduce your CO2 emissions as
far as you like, but if you don't accept the way of the Gollum and
ditch your car, your efforts amount to zero.

Oddly enough, my level respect for religious reasoning is the same as
for DuhgReasoning i.e. zero.

A bit of a mix, the majority of heating is now biofuel (wood), some
comes from solar thermal and there's a top up via contract with the
electricity supplier to only use hydro for the balance. I have to pay
£200 a year more to get a guaranteed hydro-only supply than I did to get
electricity made from fossils, but since I'm in favour of hydro, tidal
and nuclear and against wind power, coal and oil fired power stations
it's worth it, to me.

We also grow our own wood for fuel and are fortunate to have the amount
of land necessary.

The house itself is designed for passive solar heating with no windows
to the north or east and massive brick walls to act as storage heaters.

Both and I am very suspicious of anything that smacks of greenwash,
i.e. making reductions in one area as a justification for excesses in
another area. If Filth was genuine who would make serious efforts to
reduce his car use, or at least use a much smaller car instead of his
whopping great 4x4.

A smaller car is not capable of doing the same job as a "4x4". What
particular reason did you have for driving a "4x4"?

I've already told you:

(a) I use a smaller car for most of my journeys
(b) I don't have a car for personal transport

Why do you keep ignoring this?

Other of course than your natural <hah!> desire to tell lies about

Pot kettle, liar. Carbon neutral indeed!

How is your personal shopping transported if not by car?

Also, have you considered that your primitive wood burning is highly
polluting?

Is there a technologically advanced wood burning stove and in what way does
it differ from SF's current device? A fully detailed comparative study would
be helpful, if you don't mind.

LOL at Gollum! He can't stand the thought that someone might be
outdoing him on the CO2 reduction stakes.

More defamation from a proven liar.

I use someone elses vehicle.

<yawn> No it's not, we've done this one before, you lost then. The stove
that I use is certificated for use even in central London.

Yes, there are several manufacturers but they have in common a catalytic
afterburner and a secondary combustion chamber. This improves efficiency
and gains them an EPA rating better than gas boilers.

Not one bit, since we got the best we could affford from Vermont
Castings, well known for producing among the best wood-burning heaters.

Like everything else from windbag, all that will happen is a few moments
of silence then he'll repeat the same lies in the hope that someone will
believe him.

Steve you forgot the rest: Tell a lie. Repeat daily for a week. Go

Top posting? Why? Swimming against the tide are we? Showing a bit of
independence/defiance perhaps?

I have not yet heard Mr Firth claim to be without a vehicle, from his
prior postings I would find it hard to believe he would unless he was
postulating it hypothetically to make a point, then I'm sure this
would have become obvious by reading the text.

Why are you on a crusade against him, did he piss on your chips or
something?

Of course, Gollum's boiler doesn't produce any pollution or CO2.

That old lie again, Gollum? I have posted figures showing that the
average person produces twice as much CO2 through household use than
through driving. I have invited you several times to provide figures
to support your assertion that motoring produces the same CO2 as
running a house. The fact that you have not done so means you are
lying. But then, as you are a lying old turd, that is hardly
surprising.

Every statement you make is an empty, lying greenwash boast.

be easy on him Steve, his memory isn't what it once was. He probably
has got confused about your claim about your "Heating" being carbon
neutral.

I'll brew a cuppa, wrap him in a warm blanket and we'll see if we can
get one of his kids to take him home. He's not safe on the streets
when he gets confused like this...

Gollum, you clearly have problems with reading and comprehension
(caused by the fact that you are a senile, drooling retard), so I'll
try and make it nice and simple for you. Go back to the very first
post in this this thread. Look at the very first sentence. Read it
(or get your home help to read it for you). It says "Heck, my home is
carbon neutral at last."

Read it again. Do you see what it says? Do you see the word "home"?
The claim is that his *home* is carbon neutral. Not that he is, or
his car is, or his pet alligator is, but that his *home* is.

Now, just think for a moment. I know that is hard for you, what with
the plaques that are forming in your brain, but give it a go. Do you
see that Steve Firth claiming that his *home* is carbon neutral is
quite different to him claiming that *he* is carbon neutral. You see,
Gollum, his *home* is just one part of his life. He made no claims as
to the rest of his life. It was you who made that bit up. Do you see
now?

No, I expect you don't. Never mind, it was worth a try.

At the start of this thread you made the wild and boastful claim that
your home is carbon neutral, liar. How can it possibly be while it is
served by oil consuming transport and you are not completely self-
sufficient in everything, liar?

I'll post it again:

Gollum, you clearly have problems with reading and comprehension

It was neither "wild" nor "boastful" it was what we term "accurate"

Liar yourself.

Which bit of "carbon neutral home" do you not understand?

Because, as in everything, you don't understand what "carbon neutral" means.

The bit where you ignore the services and journeys which supply that
home and cannot account for the sequestration of the carbon you do
release. Anyone can isolate one small aspect of their lifestyle and
boast it is 'carbon neutral' but that is an idle boast and just more
of your greenwash.
