Not just oil forcing up fuel prices - poor harvests will help it
shoot up
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7447582.stm
"Corn prices have hit new highs after the US Department of Agriculture
forecast that output would fall because of poor weather."
Its unfortunate that the US turned to biofuels just as the word gets
hit by record bad harvests.
So now we've increased demand on a supply thats much lower than
normal.
I wonder how the biofuels getting more expensive will factor into UK
fuel costs. IIRC we're using cereals as well.
Hopefully these price rises will help spur the development of the next
generations of biofuels that show better promise. Necessity is the
mother of invention after all.

Hopefully it will stop the compulsory inclusion of harmful biofuels in
petrol and will allow motorists a choice instead.
It really comes to something doesn't it when I have to stick up for
the motorist wimps who dominate and infest this NG cos they don't have
the guts to do it for themselves.

Doug gurgled happily, sounding much like they were

Let's hope so. I'd be quite happy using a higher bio-ethanol mix than
merely 2.5-5%.
Still, at least in another couple of years, 5% will become the standard
rather than just the upper limit.

It would be nice to have a choice.

Erm Doug I've been going on about biofuels for a while now... You do
read the posts don't you?
There are bigger problems than biofuels just now though. The failed
harvests require urgent replacement seed in many desperate areas.
