Seems Like Vodafone are scrapping the Anynet & Anytime PAYT price plans from 
September 1st and putting anyone on these price plans across to the new 
'simply' tariff.

It seems that stop the clock will not be available to new PAYT customers 
from this date either.

Had the text message off them today that i will be transfered onto the new 
simply tariff from September the 1st.

Not so good (regardless of the patronising blurb from Vodafone about it 
being a nice easy tariff to understand) if you actually use your phone off 
peak though with Vodafone Stop the Clock.

Afternoon everyone,

Our new price plan is just that.simple!

We're moving all our PAYT customers on to our new and easier price plan.

The calling costs are as follows:


  a.. One flat rate of 20p per minute to any network any time of the day, so 
no more on/off peak rates
  b.. Texts will now only be 10p
  c.. Non Geographic numbers will be just 25p per minute
Free Weekends will still be available and Stop the Clock won't be available 
to new connecting customer. If you have it on your PAYT account currently, 
it'll be transferred over to our new Simply plan.

We're just waiting for the website to be updated with the details. As soon 
as it is, we'll update it with the link.

As soon as you see a phone company using the word 'simple'   in regard
to their tariff then, for the word 'simple', read 'more expensive'.
Telewest and others used the word 'simple' for the same reason. What
can they say ? They can't say 'cheaper' or 'better' because it ain't -
so, instead it is just 'simple' !

Indeed - nobody else even gets close for off peak PAYG use. But it seems people
on the older tariffs won't be automatically moved - according to someone who
replied after the post below. And people that are moved can move back if they
want. So existing customers should be OK. My wife will still be able to gas for
an hour for 15p :-)

But presumably new customers won't get this option. Seems a crazy move on their
part - most other PAYG providers have moved to similar "simple" tariffs but
Vodafone are more expensive than the others, so why would anyone choose them? At
least with cheap off-peak and STC they could point at probably the best value
off peak PAYG rates in the market.

About the only reason left is Passport, or is that being ditched as well?

According to a Vodafone customer service person in the vodafone
discussion forum, You will have an option to change back to your old
tariff if you do it within 30 days.
