Bridging 2 wireless routers
Hi,
I have 2 wireless routers, a tiscali branded siemens se587 and an old
3com 3crdr100a-72 office connect wireless router.
I also have an xboxz 360 and a wire-only-network PC.
It is possible to get the routers to connect to each other wirelessly:
Phoneline--->router-->WIRELESS CONNECTION--->router---->PC & Xbox 360?
Otherwies I have to run nasty long cable ;)
Thanks

Doubt very much you will manage to get 2 routers to bridge, if one was an
access point then maybe a chance..... Your best bet for a reliable
connection would be to use homeplug networking!. Have a look at
http://tinyurl.com/627yll (dabs.com) for a reasonably priced option

Not with those routers, no.

Could anyone recommend a device that could work like this cheaply?

Not cheaply, but two Apple Airports (an Express connected to an ADSL
modem and an Extreme at the other end of the wireless connection running
in bridge mode to which the PC and Xbox are connected) should be able to
do that.

Had the problem of trying to get a useable wifi signal into a new
extension.
Ended up buying one of these kits:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Devolo-Homeplug-Starter-streaming-capable/dp/B0014LGNMS
Works an absolute treat !! Took at most, 2 minutes to "set up".

The Edimax EW-7206APg has worked for myself, and friends and family
(seen as bridging wirelessly is much more common now thanks to all the
game consoles) with no problems. I always recommend this device. I
haven't used any other, but then I don't need to.
I can only find one on eBay, but it's cheap (and I believe much cheaper
than paying Micro$oft for the Xbox adaptor!)
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=edimax+7206
It runs on Linux and therefore the source code is available with full
spec sheets, so if you feel like it, you can make it do whatever you
like (within reason).
It has been successfully bridging two physically-separated networks for
a while now. :-)
