Free Parking mail forwarding not working?
I have a domain with Free Parking.
Email forwarding appears not to be working. Emails direct to the address
to which redirection goes are getting through.
Anyone else with the same problem?

Its working OK for me.
Just sent a test message from PlusNet account to FreeParking address
Forwarded back to PlusNet OK, and trip time was under 3 minutes.

Various messages are now trickling through in no particular order it seems.
One sender to me did get the following message so anyone using Free
Parking might want to be on warning.

"Subject: Warning: message ........... delayed 24 hours

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 24 hours on the queue on
mailgate.freeparking.com."

At present I'm looking for an alternative to FreeParking where I can move my
domain name and have some postboxes.
I gather from a friend that he had some problems and they almost lost his
domain name.
I would also mean that I would no longer be dependent upon my ISP and could
change without a problem if a better deal became available.
I've been warned to avoid 1&1 - would welcome any suggestions

I've had this problem many times. My domains are still registered at
freeparking but the email now goes to Google Apps
<https://www.google.com/a/>.

I was with Free Parking for 4 or 5 years. I saw the type of problem
"Invisible Man" describes happen every now and then. Every few months it
would get into a habit of delaying mail for perhaps one or two hours,
occasionally longer. It probably delayed mail less than this, at more
frequent intervals. It was a nuisance, but rarely a big enough one for
me to do anything about it, other than send a complaint once or twice.
(Reponse: temporary problems, now fixed.)

About a year ago, there was an episode when it was delaying messages for
very long periods (over a day). I decided I'd had enough and moved. A
colleague had succesfully used pipeten.co.uk for some time, so I moved
to them. They cost a lot more. I can't remember exactly how much now, of
the order of 5 times FreeeParking, springs to mind. Service with them
has been perfect. Meanwhile I still use FreeParking for a domain I
maintain for my parents - it's good enough for what they want, at an
acceptable price.

I expect there are those offering prices closer to FreeParking, at
service levels closer to Pipeten. But life's too short for me to put up
with the hassle of trying to discover if that is the case!

Thanks Tim, I might give Pipeten a go.
Free Parking's "support" seems to get worse by the year which is worrying.
I also had problems in October 2005 and August 2007 with delays of more
than a day in email being redirected.
Last August I was trying to arrange a holiday. The hotel confirmation
eventually reached me after 2 days but the original airline confirmation
never did reach me.
This time someone got a bounce message after 24 hours in Free Parkings
queue.
