Re: Returning to the telecoms workplace after 7 years self employment
Look carefully at the Duties and responsibilities section.
A lot of this is best practice and doesn't rely on the latest technology.
If you are well experienced then you should be able to highlight your CV and
interview well on the importance of test design, documentation and
recording...
Your CV should accentuate these areas.
Given the huge complexity of current mobile comms the avoidance of
regression errors requires considerable systemisation in testing.
When I did some of this (for ATC), I had the hardware engineers go and build
a simulator so we could test multiple access properly before messing with
powerful RF in bands where leakage could cause chaos.

Re: Returning to the telecoms workplace after 7 years self employment
Thanks Mark,
Funny after 7 years just a few hours and a lot of the theory and
practice is coming back to me.
We often tested new features on the live network as for very specific
conditions it was simply the easiest such as managing load at big
sporting arenas by allowing reroutiing to non optimum signals in order
to spread the traffic load.
I need to rack my brains to think of all the features I rested.
One was some form of RF feedback cancellation at the antennae air
interface!
Whan the 1800 bandwith was coming in we needed to seemlessly imtroduce
it to the system.
I will get on to one of the lads that was on my team.
More day to day work was growth management and planning interms of
radio stations, controllers, transmission and so on. Often the
transmission restrictions had a large baring on the configuration and
geographical choices for BSSs and BSCs.
Wow 7 years since I wrote those terms.
I have plugged MA10s into switching rakes and anaysed the various
signalling protocoals and also used the various propreitary anaylsis
tools to monitor and trouble shoot equipment performances and
failures.
BSS systems were Nortel, Motorrola ,Alcatel and later Lucent.
What I am not sure of is if this spec is a solid overlap with what I
have done or if it would involve skills currently behond me. Given my
situation I would be happy to research the living hell out of it and
vcome up too speed with whatever processes and theory I need to impress
an interview board.
If you would be so generous as to stick with me in this tread you might
point me in the right direction for relevant research and review a CV I
design specically for the job.
First things First i am going to get back on to soe of my old team
mates and write up my CV in terms of actual experience as I mislaid it
and rewriting from memory will not be wise.
Once I post this first draft you may help in shaping it just for this
job.
Also is this kind of thing what this forum is all aboiut or should I
also be looking a t a more engeineering specific forum. if so can you
let me know of a few.
Sincere thanks
I owe you one. A cool Guinness if you ever come to ireland.
If you can help me to this endR. Mark Clayton;74142 Wrote:
