There *is* a god, after all! A greedy money-grabbing company finds that
people don't want to use its rip-off services, and it makes a fundamental
and naive error in failing to get contracts for work that it carries out for
the NHS (but which is never used).
The concept of patients or their relatives paying more than standard BT
charges for incoming and outgoing phone calls from hospitals is one which I
find repugnant and abhorrent. Talk about exploiting a captive market.

Since they've now been acquired by a similar operation, but get your
hopes up too much. They haven't promised anything except 'lower incoming
call charges'. Down from 50p to 45p a minute perhaps?

Good scope for disparagement if they dare to operate in Children's
Wards.

Good riddance. Another rip-off merchant bites the dust!
Especially one that was taking advantage of a totally
captive market.

Not surprised at all, given that hospitals now allow mobile phones in
most areas.
Alas it might not be the back of them, as there appears to be a rather
"convenient" sale to a new start-up (Hospedia).

Putting a company into bankruptcy, and then buying it back for next to
nothing having reneged on your debts seems to be a good scam. I just wonder
how they get away with it? This seems to have happened a few times in the
past year including a computer company and an on-line supplier of
components.

It seems that this is not what has happened here.
patientline has been purchased from the reciever by its bankers who
have written off about 30 million of debt.
It remains to be seen how the new owners will change the business
plan, for change it they will have to, to enable the company to become
profitable and thus be a saleable proposition.
What has happened to the contracts Patientline had with the various
health authorities - did they die with the company? if so it will be
interesting to see if the Health Authorities learned anything from
last time.
