Moving Premises - ISDN Number Divert Issues
Hi Group,

Another BT Saga - We are moving offices 4 miles down the road and
currently have a BT Versatility system (which is being removed
completely and not reinstated).

BT have advised us that we cannot keep our existing 4 telephone
numbers (even though we are moving to the same area code) and we need
to obtain new telephone numbers which as you can imagine is a real
pain in the backside.

After many hours on the telephone to BT they have managed to find a
solution to divert 2 of the 4 telephone numbers to new numbers in our
new offices. They have told me that the other two numbers can not be
diverted because they are ISDN.

If anyone is familar with this or knows a solution so that I can
approach BT with some amunition I would appreciate it.

P.S - They want to charge us £70.00 per month plus the cost of each
diverted call on each of the two lines they can divert!

Thanks in advance

Lee

Have the other 2 (or all 4) numbers ported to a VoIP provider and either delivered FOC over IP to one or two ATAs, or diverted to PSTN (for the
latter you'll still pay the diverted leg of the call, but only £4/month
instead of £70 rental)

It's £70 per quarter, BTW.

So long as the ISDN numbers are not a block of DDIs, there should be no
reason why they can't be converted to a "Presence Number" (which is in
effect the same as your diverts on the analogue lines)

That said, other than porting the numbers to a VoIP company and
arranging a forward, why not have the new number announced to callers?

I assume you're going to tell people you've moved..? Tell them your new
number at the same time.

Is it your intention to have you calls diverted forever? If not, at
some point, you're going to stop the divert. What will you do then?
Everyone that's calling your old number now will still be calling it
then.

Best to get the announcement on & have done with it at the same time as
you're telling everyone you've moved.

Surely it' best to port all the umbers to a provider who can actually
provide the service required...

You've snipped the relevant bits.
