Recommendations for an Email-to-fax service
Hi

For a short time I need to use a UK email-to-fax service. Googling
brings up loads and I have nothing on which to base a choice between
them. Free is very good, cheap is acceptable, and reliable is v.
important - I need to be confident that anything sent via the service
does actually get delivered.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks ihn advance.

Dear Pete

The aql e-mail to fax service will send you an e-mail with a delivery
report for the fax you sent and there is a log for incoming faxes. Its
£2 per number per month (ex-vat).

See here for Email To Fax: https://www.aql.com/telecoms/site/email2fax.php

and here for Fax to Email:
https://www.aql.com/telecoms/site/fax2email.php

Interesting thing is the geographic numbers will also accept incoming
SMS and send it to you in an e-mail or HTTP POST.

HTH

InterFAX (http://www.interfax.net) works fine for me.

Do you mean email to fax - it would be cheaper just to buy an old modem.

Fax to email on the other hand...

I do mean email to fax. One of the people I am dealing with (who works
for a major high street bank) does not have an email address but does
have a fax number. At the moment I am printing emails and then posting
them which IMHO is a ridiculous way to operate in the 21st century.

Re: Recommendations for an Email-to-fax service
Thanks for the replies.

I've found a service called FaxBox http://www.faxbox.com/en/home.aspx,
run by RTE which gives a free trial account allowing 30 sheets in 30
days - which is enough for my needs.

However I'm having problems getting it to work at present so I'm still
in the market for more recommendations

Why..? I write letters by hand sometimes. It's nice to receive these as
well, makes you aware there's a human in there somewhere.

I used a service called efax a few years ago which enables you to both send and
receive faxes via your PC, it worked OK but I could not justify the monthly cost
for occasional use.

My trusty inkjet printer has a fax function and is connected to the POTS line as
well as the PC, so to send a fax I just dial the number then when I hear the fax
tone I press start/copy on the printer.

To receive faxes I use the fax to email service provided by Mistral which costs
me nothing but charges the sender a few pence. No doubt I will get flamed by
others on this group and be accused of ripping off the sender - but hey, the
sender can either put a photocopy in an envelope and stick a postage stamp and
snailmail it to me at greater cost, or email to me direct.

Well buy a modem - dirt cheap, minimal call charges unless they are on
Inmarsat.

Thanks for the responses

tpc.int (http://www.tpc.int) does the job for me - it has the benefit
of being free and not asking for payment card details.

Oh and I've tried it and it works.

I know what you mean, but in this case I am actually trying to deliver
emails where only one recipient does not have (or will not give me) an
email address. The text of the email is on my computer so I don't want
to write or print it out. I would also like him to receive the
communication in a similar time frame to the other recipients and not
have to wait for me to take a trip to the post box.
