Do not knock one of the most useful sites on the net David it may just
get taken down . This site must have saved myself and many others a
small fortune over the years web sites cost money to maintain in
Internet subscriptions alone and it has to come from somewhere. So if
you don't like what the owners are doing to lesson the cost of the
site then don't use it .
Besides which one or other pillocks besides yourself have made the
same comments over the years also.

But he's right, also why don't they allow you to cut & paste, that really
does get on my wick!

John if you or he are not satisfied with the service then don't use it
I and many others find the service very useful and it has helped me
and many others save a lot of money over the years it has been around.
They can do what they want including having adds for 0906 numbers and
even include links to porn sites if they wish so long as the
alternatives to 0870 and 0845 remain available to those who appreciate
a good service and are not prone to winging about content that don't
matter a jot .

Ron, you make it sound like the very existence if this site
is hanging by a thread. People commenting about ironic
advertising links isn't going to get this popular site taken down.
I'm not sure what John means by not being able to copy & paste,
I can copy the geographic numbers from the search results
and copy & paste from/to the submittal form.

I don't see any ads there. But then I use a decent ad-blocker (Adblock
Plus on Firefox)

Re: Ironic
I don't really see the problem with the content as a whole. There are
tons of sites that use google ads which conflicts with their site, but
I think most people have learned to ignore the ads or use a good ad
blocker.
You cant really blame the people at saynoto0870.com for the ads as
google puts them on, and I dont see any problems with the content of
the site, they give me what I want and I am not bothered if they put
some ads about porn, if this is how they keep their site running

Exactly the add just does not matter it is the usefulness of the site
that is important and long may it continue to help people in avoiding
the dreadful 0870 and 0845 numbers just so long has they do not start
advertising the LABOUR PARTY :)) ,incidentally another sly number in
my opinion to watch out for is the 0300 range .
The RSPCA have started using this number range instead of their 0870
numbers in order to make people think it is a free or very cheap
number to ring I recon while it is in fact charged the same has 0870's
so BT told me when I asked tonight .

Well then they were wrong, or they didn't understand you. 03 numbers are
charged at the same rate as 01/02 numbers, including discounts and
inclusive minutes.

No ifs, buts, paranoia or "gut feelings". They are, by definition.

Which was what I thought Paul I shall ask again on the other hand I
cannot see the RSPCA dropping their 0870 numbers for an ordinary
charged number though .Just asked again and this time was told that
they are all charged at different rates but all are cheaper than an
ordinary call dependant on what follows the 0300 .

Why bother a third time with people who make up fairy stories ?

If you don't wish to struggle with the BT Price List, the
following URL is posted regularly on this NG

http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/tarifres1.htm

All 03 numbers are indeed charged at the same rate which is the same as
01/02 numbers, including discounts and inclusive minutes.

The trouble is that the average user just gets confused, they know many
numbers cost more so I suspect that they will not trust a new block of
numbers that they do not recognise.

By the way, how does the Say No To 0870 website check alternative
numbers? If someone got a false number into their system then people
could ring that number thinking they were giving their security checks
to a bank or credit card number to a retailer.
