BT SMS centre number - S450IP
I foolishly have buggered the preprogrammed BT SMS call centre number
in my S450IP. Can someone with one please check it for me please? The
BT helpful pdf file, which most likely does not mention this phone, is
undownloadable at present.
TIA

You're right - the BT pdf does not mention your phone but have a look
at http://tinyurl.com/38jl8g anyway.. there are several numbers you
can try.

Thanks - No wonder it does not mention my phone - that copy is 2004
:-)
Has anyone got a S450IP working with BT SMS?

It turns out I only lost the service 1 number. Looking at service two
I find 0800587529* which, from the above URL, suggests service 1
ought to be 1470P17094009*
I tried that and can send texts, but sending "register" to 00000
eventually returns a "you can only receive voice messages".

Forgive my ignorance, but why does the SMS phone number depend on the phone?
Surely all phones of any type on the same network should use the same number
(or a number from the same pool) - why should the number be phone-specific?

The BT Paragon 500 numbers are:
send 1470P17094009
receive 08005875290
so your receive number is missing the zero at the end. I don't
why the asterisks are there.

I have a BT Diverse 6350, and the numbers are:
Service Centre 1 (send?): 1470P1709400
Service Centre 2 (receive?): 080058752
The Diverse 6450 manual
http://www.shop.bt.com/content/uni2/documentation/4cy8/019829.pdf
(page 47) also gives these numbers
Don't know if your different phone model will have any bearing on these,
but if you're after the BT SMS service numbers (which is what I use),
they may be useful.

The referenced BT guide has 0800587529, 0800587529* & 08005875290 plus
a few more depending on phone. The *s are to do with sub-addressing -
I don't know what that is either :-)

You put a star at the end of the number on the siemens phones to make
them use the "non-default" line type. So if the base is defaulting to
voip, then adding a star will make that number go out via the PSTN line.
(But it's also possible it has another meaning here!)

The star is inserted at the end of the numbers if your phone has more
than one mailbox. This is known as sub-addressing and the extra
mailboxes (sub-addresses) should be set to ID 1, 2, 3, etc. A number
is then added onto the end of your phone number by the person wanting
to send you a text to a particular mailbox. If no extra number is
added then a received text goes into the main mailbox 9.
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=331729
I have a Philips Onis 300 Vox and these are my notes on how I
configured it to use BT Text.
The Philips Onis 300 Vox can use 4 SMS centres. It came set up thus.
Incoming no Outgoing no
1 Bizzyline (default) 0161274599 1470P09110235029
2 (empty)
3 Eircom (Ireland) 0818365135 17409900
4 (empty)
Added numbers for BT Text in SMS Centre 2 and made it the default.
Incoming no Outgoing no
1 Bizzyline 0161274599 1470P09110235029
2 BT Text (default) 0800587529 1470P17094009
3 Eircom (Ireland) 0818365135 17409900
4 (empty)
Sent a text to 00000 containing the single word register. Received a
confirmation SMS from BT Text.
Before this an SMS was sent via the old default centre which was also
acknowledged. This means that the Bizzyline account is also enabled.
That was okay for sending SMS but was a nuisance for others to send
to. A mobile needs to embed the landline number in ## and send to
07786 201010.
This phone supports several SMS boxes, which may have passwords. No
more have been added, so there is a single inbox with number 9. That
seems to be commonly the shared box. Individual boxes are 1, 2, etc.
When sending there is an option to enter a destination box, leave this
blank.

Re: BT SMS centre number - S450IP
Thanks for all the suggestions, but a fellow S450IP user, not on this
NG, helped me solve the problem. His worked fine and had the *exact*
same settings as mine. Incoming 0800587529* outgoing 1470P17094009*
Mail box ID 0. So it had to be something else.
Mine is wired through a Faxfriend *and* an Orchid dialer and it is the
latter that stops SMS incoming. Plug the base direct to the socket -
works. Base -> Faxfriend -> socket - works. Base -> Orchid-> socket -
voice only incoming. Base -> Faxfriend-> Orchid-> socket - Same. When
connected through the dialer the led on the dialer glows briefly when
the SMS hits it and goes out. Yonks later the text to voice version
turns up.
I have yet to contact Orchid. But it might help someone else.

Re: BT SMS centre number - S450IP
I've got some kind of fault today - I've been able to receive sms for
months but today they keep coming as silent phone calls and eventually
as voice.
