[OBS]Whipsnade, Beds, Sat 13 Sep 2008
0850z NW F1-2 12km -BR 6St002 8St004 11.6/11.4 1019.8
RMK: Fog closed in approx 2100 Fri (St deck lowering onto
the hills), vis ~200m at 0100, but had lifted by 0630. Present
12km vis is over the lower ground to the W and NW ... it is
probably less at my altitude but I can't easily estimate that.
Several heavy showers Fri pm, notably 1445-1515. Standing
water in the fields again this morning

09-09: Tx 15.5 Tn 10.4 Tg 8.7 RR 8.9 sss 0.6

[OT]: What appeared to be a white-breasted robin sat on
my fence (under a neighbour's tree) to shelter from the rain
yesterday afternoon. Are these known, or was it something else?

Googling "white-breasted robin" gives lots of links, e.g.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article3075737.ece
Although the White Breasted Robin is a native Australian species, the one you saw was probably
suffering from some condition known as leucism, which means it does not have the pigment that
gives robins their red breasts.

Thanks, Roy. That's exactly what it looked like. Saw it again
this morning.

Re: [OBS]Whipsnade, Beds, Sat 13 Sep 2008
It's actually caused by the lack of sun,I've seen many species including
humans suffering from the same condition this year.,the redness leaves the
chest and transfers to the arse ,all due to sitting around waiting for the
rain to stop.

RMK: Tr Ac, also tr Ci250 ... the setting sun is also
illuminating some extremely tenuous and very high Ci,
prob >350; it probably wouldn't be visible at all under
other lighting conditions. Max looks like just 16.6°C
with about 6½ h of sunshine, the most since 1 Sep.
