Around 8.5 mm (TBR total) fell here this aftn, Eric - most of it in
one intense burst around 1310, when 5.8 mm (again, TBR - don't read
checkgauge until the morning) fell in 10 min, briefly just over 60 mm/
h at 1310-11, accompanied by a relatively marked squall and a temp
fall of 5 degC in the hour.

I could see the storm from my eyrie in west Bracknell, but did not see
any lightning or hear any thunder around that time. I did see a very
bright CG stroke to the north at 1438z, with thunder about 25 sec
afterwards, but there was little rainfall in Bracknell this afternoon.
