Jet nicely North for a change
It does seem, far from someone like me to say it, but where are you DP? oh
is he on holiday? but there is a nose of the Azores High (so long dormant in
its usual position) taking effect on Thursday. Once that troublesome trough
leaves our shores it could well be the start of a longer period of settled
weather. Can that be possible? That Jet is nicely broken and certainly
heading North.

No its not possible. The latest Monthly Outlook update from the BBC's Darren
Bett I go with him on this but the Jet is broken this weekend. I guess
it'll re form again. He forecasts more of the same right through as far as
mid September. So Summer has really had it. And by the way I dont agree with
some on here that this is just an "average" UK summer.
"162mm of rainfall so far this month at Aldergrove, near Belfast, has broken
the August record. The total is so exceptional that, even at this stage of
the month, the running total puts August at number five in the list of
wettest months stretching back to 1927! 31 hours of sunshine this month,
some 55 hours shy of the seasonal average.

Re: 20.08
Today it seems the projected High Pressure on synoptic charts for Monday and
the 'settling up' promised (at least for southern and south eastern areas)
has collapsed Yet Yet Yet again. That huge tongue of Azores high pressure in
the Atlantic has cut back dramatically and leaves a run of low pressure
westerlies with yet more lows and fronts by Monday and obviously into the
week as well. Is there ever an end to this? Sadly I do not think so.
