Going downhill here now. Heavy rain being driven by a force 6
Southerly in blustery showers. It doesn't look, or feel, like July! As
regards the projected severity, we may get lucky here in Dawlish. The
worst of the winds may be through by high tide at 20.30 and the winds
are not onshore, they are presently Southerly and should veer South-
Westerly, towards evening. The rain is not torrential, by any means,
though it will be much heavier over the higher catchments. From
experience, I'd go 7/2 against overbank flow occurring either along
Dawlish Water, as it runs through the town, or in the lower basin, as
the high tide backs up the water coming down the river. If there is
flooding, I think it will be further West in Lyme Bay; he says,
fingers crossed. Having said that, I've called some friends who have a
property on the lower basin, advising them to get the sandbags out.
They hadn't seen the flood warning!

Quite wild over my way too, Will, even at my relatively sheltered location.
Was just looking over the reported gusts on the METARs. The Isles of Scilly
gusting to 52KT earlier and Plymouth 42KT more recently :-
EGHE 050850Z 22038G52KT 7000 -SHRA FEW010 SCT012 BKN020 14/12 Q0999
EGHD 051320Z 19023G42KT 160V240 5000 RA BR BKN003 13/13 Q1004
Not bad for, err, July.
At least all of this should make for an interesting race tomorrow at
Silverstone.
06Z GFS 3 hour accumulated precipitation 09-12Z Sunday

the more coherent band of rain seemingly tied to the wrap around occlusion.

Despite the weather warning ( in fact a Flash Warning albeit ending in
90 minutes at 1700) it has been more or less completely dry here just
below Bull Barrow - a few very light showers and actually very
pleasant gardening weather. It has got a little breezier and the
console alarm went off as it touched 20mph. It will be much windier
across the valley at the other station

Rain is on the way Robin, if it hasn't reached you already!
