Brussels on Thursday 3rd July

Thunderstorm started around midnight local time on Wednesday night –
some heavy rain but only occasional thunder and lightning, at least
while I was still awake !

Damp at first this morning with intermittent light rain until about
10.00.   Dry subsequently but still cloudy, though cloud base seemed
higher (medium-level) in the afternoon.   Briefly brighter with sunny
intervals after 17.00.

After 18.00 the sky became very dark, threatening and turbulent from
the west with a marked shelf cloud and a spell of heavy rain from
about 18.45 until 19.00 – rain continued with lesser intensity until
20.00 or so.

Much cooler than yesterday – light wind from between S and W for most
of the day.

Brussels Uccle 19.7°C  -  overnight minimum 14.9°C  -  and 21 mm rain
(16 mm overnight and 5 mm today)
Brussels Airport 19.0°C -  overnight minimum 15.5°C  -  and 12 mm  (9
mm overnight and 3 mm today)
