[OT] Cribbar Swell
The recent swell, combined with an offshore wind and fairly big tides
led to 20' Cribbar waves at Newquay. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/7488030.stm
Normally an Autumn phenomena when there's a big swell, S or SE wind &
Spring Tides (the tide needs to be low.) Very rare in Summer. The
general north coast swell was 4-6' - The great increase in height due
to convergence on the reef.

for other Cribbar photos.

The Cribbar's supposed to be one of the biggest waves in Europe, but
the biggest rideable waves I've ever seen were on the Porthleven reef,
plenty of pics on the web, like www.bbc.co.uk/cornwall/photos/localsurfing/7.jpg
