Meteox PPN radar presentation ... additional facilities
... not sure how long these facilities have been available on this
site, but at least one of them is flagged 'NEW'

http://www.meteox.com/

(1) At the top of the image pane, note the legend " clouds and
rainfall images combined in 1 image ". This is an *excellent* feature
and something that professionals have had available for many years -
the presentation here appears to be accurate and smooth. Now, all we
want is 'Sferics' on top :-)

(2) If you click on a rainfall (only) image, then it will switch to
overlay of rain-over-Google map, which has all the usual Google-map
facilities, such as zoom, pan. The downside is that the image time
(and date) are not displayed, and there appears to the a permanent
legend "09:00 - 12:00 CET" at the top which I can't figure out - as
far as I can tell, the imagery you get is 'current'; remember that the
times are CET, which are 1 hr ahead of BST (atm), and thus 2 hours
ahead of GMT.

Use with caution as on one occasion it managed to lock my machine up,
but I think I tried to zoom too far with too many images! Also, I
suspect a certain amount of development work going on.

Martin.

Re: Meteox PPN radar presentation ... additional facilities
Yes, its a good site Martin. However, I have noticed that when using the
zoomed in over the Google map, the echoes are displaced, 15 to 20 miles to
south of where they appear on the Met Office radar. I did tell Meteox
several weeks ago, but it seems to still be the same today. And as you say,
the displayed time is in error. Also on my PC, the zoomed in frames do not
update automatically. I also get the locking up problem if trying to zoom in
too far. Also, the echo colour changes from blue to black at times, again
when zooming in.

Excellent site (best on the web?) The time stamp does appear if you zoom out
one click on the google map.
