Re: UK education; A return to the Dark Ages?
Unfortunately creationism is on the rise in the UK, mainly due to Americans
who come over here from organisations such as ICR and AiG, with their whole
aim being to spread their nonsense as far as possible. As soon as they're
allowed in to churches, they get to speak to congregations who are already
predisposed to believing them and often, to put it bluntly, too dim or lazy
to go and discover real science for themselves. They then spread it to their
kids, who start raising it in class: "My dad says evolution isn't true and
it's just a religion"
Unhappy days :(
I hope that when it is raised in science lessons, the teachers have enough
sense to calmly and clearly explain why creationism isn't science, which is
what government guidelines ask them to do.
