Insulin manufacture and suppy problems
Our diabetic dog normally has Insuvet Lente but on two occasions in the last
three months the vet has been unable to obtain this insulin and has provided
prescriptions for Hypurin Bovine Lente. We have managed to obtain Hypurin
Bovine Lente from supermarket pharmacies (with difficulty since few have any
stock)but the pharmacists have told us that it is no longer being produced
and once existing stocks are gone then that's it. Does anyone know what is
happening here, why there are these supply problems with animal/human Lente
insulin? I have e-mailed Schering-Plough, who manufacture Insuvet Lente, but
they don't reply.
