Astronomers update our galaxy's structure
Astronomers update our galaxy's structure Teams of astronomers
studying the Milky Way using infrared and radio waves presented an
updated view of our galaxy's structure June 3 at the American
Astronomical Society meeting in St. Louis. Among the findings is the
discovery of a long suspected inner spiral arm and recognition that the
Milky Way contains two main arms, rather than four ... Read more.

Post away Gary.... for most people (99%) Binaries make no difference. I
repeat... No difference.
This ruling is "Draconian" and some people haven't moved on or can embrace
change!
Then they are those that know it all and think they are the internet police
and don't even have the decency to say PLEASE!
Gary, I know you meant no harm and I for one found the posting interesting
so please don't people like "OG" put you off!!!
Debs!

He didn't AFAICS. It was HTML, which looks odd in my reader, but is
decipherable if I cared.

My news provider doesn't accept posts with binaries, so I didn't get the
original message. So they do make a difference...

Abo,
You may be the missing 1% or you may have your News Client set up incorrectly!
I see you use Giganews (http://www.giganews.com/faq.html) which we use at work. With respect, Binaries are not a problem on this service.
Gary meant no harm, he may be a newbie but I see the Internet "Police" ready to pounce often quite rudely.
I posted this in HTML because I don't care!

It may vary from service to service. It came in fine on tbird's
newsreader, using individual.net. Also, if I try to save the image, it
looks like a jpg file, not html. On tbird, it seems to be set to not
load images, but there's a button I click on if I want to see them.

But really, it's not a question of whether binaries are a problem for
any particular news server. It's simply the most basic of netiquette to
read and respect a newsgroup's charter before posting anything other
than plain text messages.

Re: Astronomers update our galaxy's structure
Totally agree Calum.... but it's also simply the most basic of netiquette to
be "POLITE". That something the poster "OG" has to learn!
