Astronomers Make Five-Gigapixel Image of Milky Way
It's called the Galactic Legacy Infrared Mid-Plane Survey
Extraordinaire, and extraordinary it is: a 180-foot-long mosaic of
800,000 high-resolution snapshots taken by the Spitzer Space
Telescope, all on glorious 400,000-pixel by 13,000-pixel display at
the American Astronomical Society's annual meeting in St. Louis.
