I'm trying to help someone else, poor sucker. They think I remember all
this stuff.

So what does it say when you look it up?

I see - at 0.1 arcseconds the distance is 10 parsecs. And at 10 parsecs the
Absolute Magnitude equals the Apparent Magnitude.

Does being this obnoxious make you feel good, or does it give you some
perverted pleasure?

Someone's asking a genuine question in a newsgroup which has a current
thread bemoaning the apparent demise of amatuer astronomy. and you delight
in posting these spiteful replies.

I think we've got the answer to the thread about At what point do the
amateur astronomers here give up?

I'm sorry you feel that way. Not knowing what level of information the OP
needs can make it tricky to know where to ptch an answer and sometimes it
really is more useful to suggest the user do their own research . In his
other question thread I posted a link that seems to have been of use; and he
does seem to have found the information he needs in this thread - and
hopefully much more.

I'm sorry I need to make the point.

For the same amount of effort you took to make your rather nasty posting you
could have asked what level of knowledge the chap wanted.
It's a safe bet that people have done their research before trying UseNet
because of the humiliating replies they so often get.
