Comet 29P Schwassmann-Wachmann - December 2007 and January 2008
Comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann, or Schwassmann-Wachmann 1, was
discovered on 15 November 1925 by Arnold Schwassmann and Arno Arthur
Wachmann at the Hamburg Observatory.
The comet is unusual in that while usually around magnitude 16, it
sometimes suddenly brightens to magnitude 12. For this reason the
comet is well worth monitoring on a regular basis by amateur
astronomers.
