Semi-OT: The Gold Side of the Moon
Regarding "First Cut: A Piece of the Moon" this evening on Channel 4
at 19:30:
It was about these (rich) bozos who sell off plots of land on the Moon to
the gullible.
With humble apologies to the amazing Pink Floyd:
Money - in the sky
Lunar real-estate magnate, what I sell they buy
Money - watch your step
Stray onto my plot and you'll be out of your depth!
^ Yeah, it's rubbish! Maybe someone else can do better...
But notwithstanding the audacity of these people, they are VERY rich.
One situation that would make me laugh is one wherein some exotic meteor
crashes into the Moon in full and global scientific gaze; NASA scrambles
a manned, or unmanned craft to go and bring it back for research, and it's
on such a plot of landed "owned" by several people (from different vendors).
"Hey, that's my land, and it's my meteorite! You have to get my permission!
And that'll cost you $100,000,000!".
Whereupon the Americans don't even bother to fall around laughing, march on
in there and take it - with a grim, determined expression.
I'd be insulted if someone "gave" me a piece of paper claiming to be a
certifcate of ownership of lunar land as a present.
