New track marking
Can someone explain what this sign indicates please, found on the down slow
at Grove Park: http://www.thebattens.me.uk/track.jpg. The '50' is one of a
series of numbers at intervals before and after the main sign.

'TL' is the transition curve length
'R' is the radius of the curve
'50' is the cant (height of outside rail above inside rail, in
millimetres)

So the plate shows the point at which the track changes from a
transition curve to a radius curve. Transition curves sit between
adjacent radius curves (with different radii), and between a radius
curve and a tangent (straight) section.
