Does anyone know what was happening between Hebde3n Bridge and Halifax this weekend? Replacement buses were running from Hebden Bridge to Dewsbury and Halifax, but the York=Blackpool service was running as normal. The station staff said no work had been done anywhere so what was the point? Makes you wonder if it was a \training exercise in the art of runninbg rail replacement buses and just damn the passengers involved. And if you can do it to coincide with Mytholmroyd gala when the A646 gets blockcd by a procession for an hour or so and holds up said buses so much the better.
I hesitate to answer my own question I have now been told that work was going on at Greetland Junction to take out a cross over and remove access to the oil depot. So why no trains from Hebden Bridge to Halifax they dont even go past Greetalnd Jct?

Trains were running between York and Blackpool, and also between Leeds and Manchester Victoria, but there were only reinstated at late notice by Northern. Buses didn't run. National Rail had the timetables on their website (still viewable as a cleared disruption at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/sa1c9a29d43e4170aa0a9ef2c2f4a820/details.html) and the reinstated services were showing on the Live Departure Boards
Well I caught the 0759 Hebden Bridge to Manchester and id definitely started from there with a bus connection from Halifax. And the station yard at Hebden was full of buses. When I arrived in Victoria the announcer was announcing that the return journeys would terminate at Hebden Bridge. And there were signs everywhere last week. .
