Does it tilt?

That Stourbridge branch is very bendy.

Crikey, it's weird seeing one of those toy trams in a proper railway
livery!

I assume it'll be driver-only operated? It does look set up with the
doors positioned for drivers to check tickets on boarding.

Tyseley open day? Oh, rats! I didn't know about that, and would have
liked to have gone... 35 years after last doing so.

It still looks like a plastic pig.

It has all the style and panache of a Robin Reliant. ;-)

The other "surprise" was 08616 also in LM livery

I bet when you went 35 years ago the 2 steam locos doing the shuttle
were 7029 & 45593? - both were there today as well, some things never
change

You mean - something with such fine aerodynamics that it has no

Shan't. ;-)

Yes, I know it should be "Reliant Robin". It is a bit like "tiolet"
or "Kewsick", except that those two now-deliberate mis-spellings were
coined on uk.railway, and the "Robin Reliant" reversal came from the
TV show "Only Fools and Horses".

Not a mistake, a deliberate quotation from the TV series "Only Fools
and Horses".

I haven't heard anyone say "Reliant Robin" for many years now.

No rear side windows... So that made it a Reliant Supervan didn't it?

Quite. Do we know what the inside will look like yet? The only one
I've ever seen had bus bench seats - unidirectionally along one side
and then a single long bench along the other wall. Not sure how you'd
describe that seating layout. In any case, it's hardly a modern light
rail vehicle by anyone's (apart from Blackpool's?) standards.

Jasper Carrott surely bears greater responsibility for Robin Reliant/Reliant
Robin confusion.

I don't know, but due to the very short journey it doesn't really need
any seats bar maybe one or two for the elderly/disabled. It's really
comparable in a sense with an airport people mover.

Is that, the Reliant Robin which had top Italians at Ogle Design Limited

Ogle design wasn't Italian (English firm, Czech chief designer) and
IIRC the Robin wasn't one of theirs - or not to the extent tha the Bug
and GTE Scimitars were. Or is there somethign deeply buried here I've

I stand corrected, thanks for the info Andy.

I still say that the best car Reliant ever built was the (Ford) RS200.. at
Shenston.

I actually saw one this week, for the first time in ages! It was parked

There's nothing confusing about it. It is called a "joke".

As you obviously don't understand the term, why don't you look up the
word "joke" in a dictionary, assuming you know what one of those is.

I know someone who has one. And no, he isn't selling.

It was a masterpiece of design, making a Reliant chassis appear cool
to a surprisingly large number of people. ;-)

And the dynamics are far better than I could have believed.

In case the first one gets nicked?

I suppose a determined thief could pick it up, put it under his arm
and run for it ...

Some years ago my ex girlfriend rolled one three complete turns on the dual
carriagway A1 in Yorkshire, there were no other vehicles involved or from
what I can gather even in sight. They had a reputation for instability.

An ex-girlfriend of mine rolled a Volvo three complete turns on the
dual carriageway A1 in Yorkshire (near the Dishforth roundabout). Does
that mean it must have had only three wheels?

It's the third class version that I'm more worried about...

Must be close on 25 years since the last of that campaign ended.
Presumably the agents provocoteurs were re-assigned to more
pressing duties.
That said, we have the highest ratio of house prices to
wages in .uk, so it's no less than a miracle that things
are so peaceful. Amazing, really.

Presumably at one point during the accident only three wheels will have been
transferring weight to the road. Of course, road accidents are rarely
investigated, at least in much detail. If a train derails it is likely that
the investigation will determine which wheel unloaded first, and the exact
point at which it climbed the railhead.

Maybe, more likely to be something to do with Yorkshire and women in their
own in cars. anyway volvo's don't have many wheels do they ar'n't they half
tracks.

Apart from mechanical breakage, you did have to abuse a 3 wheeler to get it
up on 2 wheels, especially after the Regal with 13" wheels changed to the
Robin with 10" (Mini) wheels.

I do remember a court case of a group from Dolgellau being convicted of
"Freedom Fighting with Firelighters". The surprising thing being the leader
of the group was English!

Was it Mr Bean that rolled one out of a car park backwards and it went on two
