Bahn.tv live stream
Can anyone get the live stream from bahn.tv working, it seems to have
stopped for the past two days. Does not bode well for when the station
goes off of satellite.

Looks OK to me. Fascinating item at the moment about
transporting a massive roller-coaster (Called 'Eurostar'
apparently) in dismantled form, and complete with staff
vehicles and caravans, from Hamburg to Munich by special train.

Its interesting that Digitalspy have picked up on it, seems it has a few
fans
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=812738

Wonder how much a Transponder on Astra would cost, after all if the
"stupid channels showing a 38FFFF blonde lying on a bed licking her
finger with some sub-80s synthesizer soundtrack in the background, and
some (doubtless 20 euros per minute) phone number at the bottom of the
screen." can get transponders (and one infamously was caught saying that
they'd only had one text all evening) a low bit rate might be viable.

You've noticed them too huh!? It happened to a station I watched until
recently then it went off air to be replaced by cr@p you describe above.

I'm sure when they see the server logs showing many less visitors then
Bahn.tv thought they would get, they might change their mind. Sorry, I'm
not paying for Microsoft DRM content with postage stamp size video
frames, and cr@p bit rates.

If they also did English translated versions of some of their films for
DVD, like the rebuilds of some of their stations, or the moving of large
objects (film I saw was a move of steam locos from old to new museum
location), or the recent film on switch changing in the Channel tunnel),
then they would sell better.

Not sure what you mean: it plays well enough in full screen
on my PC, and with no payment. Are they going to start
charging for it?

There are some videos that have been on during the night which are
available for viewing as a paid for download. That's what I meant.

As for full screen, yes it does play, but it doesn't look as nice as full
screen broadcast pictures. MPEG4 would have been better than a Microsoft
video format IMO.

Ah, right - didn't realise that. Thanks for explaining.

It looks good to me, but then I have taken to wearing less
strong specs than I officially need. The world looks better
with a slightly blurred edge, and it's less weight on the nose.

Did you have them rose-tinted while you were at it? :-)

Well I have now have Manual tune on my Freesat Box, and Scan two
Transponders of interest on Eurobird (28.5 E - Can be picked up with a
normal Sky setup). One is mostly +1 Channels (waste of space with Sky
Plus and a FTR PVRs) and the other contained a
Chat/Get-your-picture-on-TV channel (including a Gimp), the requisite
topless 38FFFF (ebony for a change) with Premium rate number, and
something very weird called 'Supreme Master TV' which appears to be
propaganda for a Cult...

Transponders must be dirt cheap if that lot can get channels - (BTW I
did find the channels I was looking for amoungst the Dross)
