Preserved Unrebuilt Bulleid Pacifics
There seem to be many tales about problems with unrebuilt Bulleid
pacifics during their SR.BR service, e.g. problems with chain driven
valve gear, lagging catching fire etc.
Have any of the preserved locos been modified during restoration, using
modern engineering techniques, to deal with some of these issues; or are
they not a problem with the low mileages these locos do today?

According to the Strathspey Railway magazine I picked up last week,
34070 'Manston' has had a whole new chain drive constructed.

That might come as a surprise to the Strathspey, then- they seem to be
under the impression that they're getting an unrebuilt one to mark the
60th anniversary of the Locomotive Exchanges and Light Pacifics
working through Aviemore.
