2008 Rules of the Route
Network Rail have withdrawn the Register of Disruptive Possessions
from Rules of the Route for the first time since I started using it
regularly in January 2004. I have just e-mailed them with this
message:

"I see from the latest update that you are no longer publishing a
Section 7 'Register of Disruptive Possessions' as the information is
largely superseded by the CPPP. Whilst this is ok for people within
the railway industry, ROTR (being available to anyone on the
internet) does get used by people outside the industry to get an
advance overview of upcoming line closures. Such people don't
normally have access to the CPPP (which is only an internal
document). In any event, having had sight of a CPPP I find that the
level of detail in there makes it much more difficult to use for this
purpose than ROTR, because it includes all the non-disruptive
possessions. Would it be possible to restore the previous version
6.3 to the public ROTR document, as even an out-of-date version would
be better than nothing. ROTR is used by people outside the industry
who are generally supportive of the railways as a whole, including
enthusiast and user groups, and I hope you will have regard to this
fact in any decision-making which causes its availability to be
restricted."
