Very wise.

The only major UK dealer I would still be happy to patronise is Nevada
(G3SED).

Yes, I shall be there. Will you be coming to the Golden Jubilee "do"
in the evening? I don't think it will go on very late, as most of the
attendees' nurses will no doubt be calling to collect them before
their bedtimes!

Walt, I live in the North West where we are spoiled for real ales,
However, I do make regular trips to Portsmouth and enjoy George Gales'
Chiswick and HSB beers.
After going to Reading for a funeral a few weeks ago, I got to taste
Speckled Hen and Green King IPA (Both as rare as hens teeth up here) and
I can report that they were very drinkable. So not all Southern beers
are rubbish.

George Gales used to be an excellent independent brewery in Horndean,
Hants. About a year ago, it closed down and the brand name was taken
over by Fullers of Chiswick. It just isn't the same any more. :-)
Mind you, Fullers' own "ESB" has always been a superb brew! They
should stick to doing what they are best at, as Jimbo would say.

The same goes for Speckled Hen, which used to be a fine ale brewed by
Morlands in Oxfordshire. That brewery also closed and the Greene King
Speckled Hen you get now is sweet and syrupy ... and isn't a patch on
what it used to be.

I like Spitfire and Master Brew.. both southern beers from Shepherd Neame.
great on draft.
Spitfire is a bit too lively from a bottle.

dont think much of their Sam Adams clone though.
