You won't like it Walt, it uses repeaters. It stands for internet
repeater linking project. A Linux based system similar to Echolink
except it doesn't allow direct PC communications to a repeater on link.

In that case, I would have nothing to do with it.

No it doesn't. It stands for Internet Radio Linking Project.
Google is your friend.

As I've corrected Len earlier in the thread, the "R" stands for
"Radio", not for "Repeater".
But something tells me you still wouldn't like it.
ALL access to IRLP is via a radio. (Usually a simplex link rather than
a repeater). No pseudo-hams using computers! And the audio quality is
the best of the bunch, using ADPCM at 64kb/s instead of the GSM audio
codec at 13kb/s.
Recall the "Two Ronnies" sketch where one looks down on the other 'cos
he's smaller than me - well if eQSO, Echolink, and IRLP were in that
sketch side-by-side, IRLP would be John Cleese, Echolink in the
middle, and eQSO would "know its place".

So IRLP then repeats the audio and Walt was fully correct
in his description.
Welcome to the world of infantile petty-minded children; you're
in good company with M3OSN, Mrs.Nugatory, Cowardy Custard
G6KHP and G8GGP contemporaneously.

There was nothing in my post that suggested Walt was incorrect in any
way. It was Len who posted incorrect information.
IRLP doesn't repeat anyone's audio - it relays it at the other end of
the link once and once only.
Sadly, I seem to have attracted your [unwelcome] attention once again,
and guess I'll just have to tolerate that for a while.

Same difference.

Perhaps you have forgotten your previous behaviour as
THE GREAT KIRBY when you laid into me repeatedly
with out-of-the-blue gratuitous infantile remarks?
Do you object that I choose now to put you in your place
for your then infantile outbursts?
Are you trying to do a MOUSEY on me?
