OT: Hello Darkness My Old Friend
"WASHINGTON — The United States and the European Union are nearing
completion of an agreement allowing law enforcement and security
agencies to obtain private information — like credit card
transactions, travel histories and Internet browsing habits — about
people on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

The potential agreement, as outlined in an internal report obtained
by The New York Times, would represent a diplomatic breakthrough for
American counter-terrorism officials, who have clashed with the
European Union over demands for personal data. Europe generally has
more stringent laws restricting how governments and businesses can
collect and transfer such information. "

We've been sending the Americans any personal details they asked for -
and a lot they didn't - for years now. Whole CDs full of the stuff.

Any mention of it being a reciprocal agreement. If not it probably
works like the accused-person's extradition agreement we have with
them. We send them anybody they want to question regarding an
offence or possible offence in the U.S. and in return they send us ...
a thank-you note.

We are like Porto Rico, a US colony that the US can do what it likes with,
except unlike us the Porto Ricans have a right of entry to the US mainland.
