Beneficial mutation observed in the laboratory
This story illustrates how the creationist line of "a mutation is
always harmful" or "a beneficial mutation has never been observed"
is simply tosh:

Another creationist "argument from ignorance" dissolves in the harsh
light of good science.

Ian, I know that you dont examine your human body and conclude it was
just a random bunch of accidents ; does your Body look like a load of
accidents ? Does your human anatomy resemble inch by inch of
accidental mutations ? Does life seem like one giant unpurposed
accident, or, if i examined your personal daily life...would it be
conducted having purpose to it ? Could you answer these questions .
Thanks.

**Ian, I know that you dont examine your human body and conclude it was
just a random bunch of accidents ; **
Nope. It was, and is, evolution. A proven fact. We have ancestors that
were not identical to us and further back, genetically proven, we have much
more basic life form ancestry.
Fact.
**does your Body look like a load of
accidents ? **
Nope. It evolved into this form. Fact.
**Does your human anatomy resemble inch by inch of
accidental mutations ? **
What difference would it make if it did.... or didn't..?
**Does life seem like one giant unpurposed
accident, or, if i examined your personal daily life...would it be
conducted having purpose to it ? **
At the most basic level we, as an evolved species, are here to replicate
and continue the process.
At more esoteric levels we all have our own personal purposes....for many,
it involves creating a family and reproducing offspring for whom we like to
provide.
Loving another human being can be a very fulfilling purpose.....
**Could you answer these questions .
Thanks.**
I have...
Now, perhaps you would address the countless questions posed to you by just
about everybody on this ng...?

Starting with these (which I've asked over a dozen times)
Why are you so afraid of confronting the obvious symptoms of your
religious addictions?
Do you see the world only in black and white, good and evil, right
and wrong?
Do you noticed a detachment from your job, friends or relatives or a
breakdown in your personal relationships?
Do you think you've ever gotten special messages from your god or
that your god can fix all your problems?
What about your uncompromising judgmental attitudes or shame-based
belief that you aren't good enough as you exist today?
How about your overt attitude of righteousness or superiority?
Do you find yourself in daily conflict with science, medicine, and
education, but spend excessive amounts of your time obsessive
praying, going to church, crusades, and quoting scripture?
Of course to you, all of this is perfectly normal, isn't it?
Or is all this because everyone else is wrong and you're the only one
who's thinking correctly?

I'd be delighted to...
"I know that you dont examine your human body and conclude it was
just a random bunch of accidents ; does your Body look like a load
of accidents ? Does your human anatomy resemble inch by inch of
accidental mutations ?"
No it doesn't look like any sort of accident. It looks, according to
every piece of evidence that we have ever seen, to be a product of
evolution - a process that is well documented in science literature.
You might like to try reading some to prevent yourself making silly
mistakes like using the word "accident" to describe it.
"Does life seem like one giant unpurposed accident, or, if i
examined your personal daily life...would it be conducted having
purpose to it ?"
There are two questions here:
Life has a purpose: in the context that the most successful genes
are the ones that survive by replicating themselves (in this context
we may not be the life that matters, replication of the genes may be
the focus, or the "purpose" in your terminology). Again, this is
well documented - I can recommend Richard Dawkins' book "The Selfish
Gene".
My daily life: is governed by my conciousness (the human spirit) and
has many purposes. One major purpose in my life is to ensure that my
kids get a good start in their life, and any future grandchildren do
too, but we are back to evolution and my previous answer again,
aren't we?

Pah. You guys are obviously just reading from the same page of the
Atheist Conspiracy Handbook.

Nope - close, but no cigar. The "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam" bit
is a nice humorous touch but makes it sound too child-like. You can
always forgive a child for this sort of thing prior to rational
analytical thought processes kicking in, but in Dave and his friends
it has moved into complete delusion and the need to exclude all
evidence that doesn't align with their beliefs.
I set out to find the obvious quote from Mark Twain and found so
many other good ones on religion:
"I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning
religion and politics a man's reasoning powers are not above the
monkey's." - Mark Twain in Eruption

No, but it certainly doesn't look like some fairy in the sky sprinkled
some magic dust on clay, and up I popped!
