POPULAR ATHEIST MISCONCEPTION: The hostility and prejudice against 'religious' people
Greetings, and, happy weekend. Each weekend, we take a look at a
P.A.M. These P.A.M.s' are primarily for the honest Seeker/Skeptic
who may have dropped by , and, not for the regular closed minded
'atheist' who knows (absolutely) that no personal Theistic Creator
exists as if that were even possible to know .

Its common for the 'atheist' community to show thier apriori-
philosophical prejudice toward Christians (especially) , by using
certain words as a defamation attempt such as 'The Religious',
'Fundy' , 'Faith Followers', and the like. If such folks would do a
little introspection, they may discover that athiests, and in fact ,
everyone.... falls into the same common categorical dissension they
like to stigmatize others with ! How ironic indeed. Consider this
treatise :

1. Everyone is religious.
Did you ever notice that people often give their opinions about
religion but then caveat it by saying, “But I’m not a theologian”?
Well, the truth is everyone’s a theologian. Some are more informed
theologians than others, but everyone has some set of religious
beliefs. If we define religion as someone’s explanation of ultimate
reality—the origin, operation, meaning, and destiny of all things—
then
everyone is religious, including atheists. While some people
devoutly
believe that God is the cause of all this, others are just as devout
in support of an atheistic explanation or that of some other
religious
worldview. Even those who are devoutly agnostic or indifferent have
taken a religious position. It’s not that they’ve never thought
about
an explanation for ultimate reality, it’s that they believe the
question is unknowable, undecided, or irrelevant. That’s still a
religious position.

2. Everyone is a fundamentalist.
While Christians are often mocked for being fundamentalists, everyone
has fundamental beliefs about why things are the way they are and how
we should live in light of that. Atheists, for example, believe that
there is no God; that life arose from non-life without any
intelligent
intervention; that there is no afterlife; and that science is the
supreme if not exclusive source of all truth. Those fundamental
beliefs usually result in moral fundamentals such as tolerance for
everything (except for those who don’t tolerate everything). So the
question is not who is or isn’t a fundamentalist—everyone is. The
question is “whose fundamentals are true?”

3. Everyone has faith.
If we define faith as believing something that lacks complete
evidence, then everyone has faith. Since no human is all-knowing,
all
of us—even atheists—require some degree of faith to believe our
religious fundamentals. Those that have more evidence for their
fundamentals, require less faith-- those with less evidence need more
faith.

book is . (Caution: NOT for the atheist who uses the smokescreen that
there is good evidence for atheism and its constructs).

I've never understood why so many Christians are such in-your-face,
nasty, paranoid liars.

If they had the common sense and courtesy to keep their beliefs inside
their religion there would not be the reaction they pretend is "a
priori philosophical prejudice" or "defamation".

REPLY: Why should it be Christians that hide in the closet since the
Universe corresponds precisely to what the Bible says as confirmed by
modern science today ? (Id be pleased to run thru it again if you
like..if only you were truly interested in the evidence) . With the
atheism community comprising some 8% who think razor precise design
and engineering can be brought forth from rocks, dirt, and gas by
accidental means....it should be THEM that hide in the closet to
shield the enormous silly FAITH required to be an 'atheist' . Youre
not really an atheist by the way ; you dont have the FAITH it
requires to be one. You have the pride though.

There is *NO* *SUCH* *EVIDENCE*; and this has been proved over and over
again! Why is this fool so delusional and stubborn? Has he written his own
version of the Bible? There is a drive in the fundamentalist/evangelical
movement to "modernise" the Bible by rewriting it on a theme-by-theme basis
in a modern context with more commonly-used linguistics: From what I have
seen of this effort it would appear that a lot of the original context and
meaning hasw been altered in the light of present-day understanding cvoupled
with creationist/fundamentalist idealism. Nevertheless I think DiLV has his
own unique version.

Listen stupid - It's not a purpose-built machine; it's a natural event
brought about by a number of natural processes that occur in the way that
they do because they cannot function if they were to occur in any other way:
The collective of these processes has shaped the universe into how it is
today.

Get a piece of dough or putty; any shaped piece, and roll it around between
your palms in a circular motion: You will *ALWAYS* end up with a
near-spherical ball of the original material. It's not razor-edged precision
design; it's the result of the process that you subjected it to. It's not a
cube because it can't be a cube after processing in that method. It's not a
tube because it can't be that either.

Take same piece of putty or dough; change the shape of it if you like; from
a near-spherical ball to any other shape you like. Even use razor-edge
precision modelling to make a work of art out of it if you like: Now place
it between your palms and rather than rolling it in a circular motion, roll
it up and down. You'll end up with a "worm" : A result of the process that
you submitted it to.

In the same way the universe is the way it is because of what has been going
on in it in the past as well as what's going on in it today - *NOT* because
some big Jewish skygod fashioned it to look like it does; but because it
can't; under the circumstances, be any other way and continue to exist in a
form where it can support some halfwit who says it's all there due to some
big Creator - God, because an ancient book written by the mentally-ill which
claims itself to be true tells us so.

Talking about hiding in the closet...Isn't it time you were honest with
yourself and came out?

If that statement were true then he's at least half-way there; which is
about half-way further than you'll ever get towards becoming a proper
Christian.

It is preciselt this response that confirms the nonsensical attempts to ener
into conversation with this stupidity.
Not only the stupidity of the person - who cannot collate a comprehensive,
meaninful debate - but the stupidity of the argument......
It's worth remembering that just because a question gets asked... it does
not mean that *that* question has any validity....
Out here in usenet land there are those that will argue form arguments'
sake.... pedantics, linguistics, intention, inference, assumption and
much, much more.......
Be able to distinguish the difference between logical assessment and
illogical assertion that dilv, for example (for there are many, many more
out here in usenet land) re-gurgitates...
There is, in my view, no space for exchanging ideas with myopic, born again,
fundamental devouts that are pyschologically unable to comprehend and assess
counter arguments to their belief system(s)
It is, for the most part, ridiculous to attempt to identify to persons..
that are so indoctrinated with religous beliefs, reasons, evidence and
probablity, that their views are flawed, and response to re-iterated and
re-gurgitated, central and core dogmatism, unquestionably accurate, (..even
though basic and fundamental evidence exists to the contrary) suggest to
*them* they are absolutely correct, at a level of mindless assertion - based
upon faith alone - that god made *all* of this..........
Can you imagine........??

This little, insignificant pr*ck actually gets people to respond...
are you stark raving mad..??
FFS, get a handle on the real issue....... religion .. and it's impact
your, and my, life. Not dilv's pathetic musings (..if only they were so
esoteric..!)
