Click "Tools", highlight "Message Rules", and select "News". Click "Apply 
Now", click "Select All", and browse to "uk.philosophy.atheism" in the 
"Apply to Folder" box.

Click "Apply Now": This will turn all of Dimwit's posts red. Expand all 
grouped messages by clicking on the + in the box at each thread:

You'll notice that the entire group turns around 50% red.

It appears that the DiLV "Do Not Respond" Initiative isn't kerbing the troll

For the most part, most people are not engaging directly with dilv.  We've 
had comments posted in a 'third party' response which seems perfectly ok.
The key is, in my view, to not engage directly with him.  By all means post 
something about his posts but NEVER directly to him. AS we have all come to 
understand, it IS pointless trying to debate or enter into discussion with 
hime.
I'm enjoying looking at the endless, repetitive diatribe without the feeling 
of frustration.  His assertions seem all the more ridiculous as they are 
left hanging high and dry without discussion, about them,  to him.
No, thus far, I think it's working.......but I do see the amount of his 
responses attempting to goad people into response as *trollish* ....

Quite right!  The poor chap is an ignorant idiot who can only endlessly
regurgitate his fundie rubbish.   He cannot understand that atheism is
simply a failure to believe in his imaginary god and that there are no
ulterior motives.  He cannot grasp even the rudiments of evolution and
bases his belief on his ignorance.   His stupidity and rantings only
serve to make those who can be bothered to read them more likely to
become agnostics or atheists or to confirm such opinions if already
held.  The current explosion of his rubbish indicates that he is
becoming desperate for attention which we should continue to deny him.

Completely off the point; I was just envisioning Dimwit at church on Sunday: 
There he is; sitting on the end of the second row from the front: He's going 
to talk today.

I reckon he'd say something similar to the following in his sermon, knowing 
how honest and knowledgeable he is. I'm sorry it's so long; but this is the 
kind of crap you hear in fundy churches:


"Er hi: For those of you who don't know me I'm David."

A rumble of muttering and whispering breaks out. Someone in the back row 
calls out

"We all know you; your reputation precedes you."

Dimwit fumbles with his bible as he tries to regain his confidence: "Well I 
just come down from my luxury home that the LORD gave me with a paved 
driveway, more cars than I need, a huge bassy stereo, all my bills paid by 
the church too for my evangelising mission which I carry out in the name of 
de LAWD on the internet. The church bought me a brand new luxury sofa so 
that I could carry out my God-ordained ministry in a relaxed fashion. The 
LORD is so good to me because I tithe 25% of my income to this church: I 
hope y'all are doing the same; because if you aint seeing the bounteous 
blessings from God then it's because you're not tithing or not tithing 
enough: If you don't tithe than the church can't function; 'simple as that. 
I tithe 25% of my Social Security money each week; all $25 of it, and the 
LORD rewards me with all my bills paid."

He thought he heard someone saying "That's what our tithe is used for; to 
pay this halfwit's bills!"; but he put it down to the voice of Satan, as he 
knew that he had a massive group of loyal and devoted friends really.

He continued...

"So friends; today I'm going to give a little talk on my mission into 
Atheism. I've been posting in an Atheist newsgroup lately with the Word of 
Our Lord, and I've made good friends with some of the regulars who have

and starts babbling a stream of audible gibberish as hands sway in the air 
and people start calling "Jesus - Praise Him."

There's a loud cry of "Jesus....He's coming...Oh Jesus Christ - Yes!" 
Shortly after which a bow-legged altar-boy mingles back in with the 
congregation and the church leader with crumpled trousers takes to the 
pulpit in Dimwit's place.
