creationism
The creation myth in Genesis is common to the three Abrahamic religions.
It was an attempt to explain the unknown to people emerging from the
stone age without any knowledge of biology or cosmology. Only the
exceptionally naive could conceivably believe that man was made from
dust and women from a rib. Only the ignorant or exceptionally stupid
could fail to realise that it is just a myth. Yet we have them here!

Tthe bottom line from a famous NASA "agnostic" Astronomer (and my
favourite) ----
" For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason,
the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of
ignorance, he is about to conquer the highest peak and as he pulls
himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of Theologians
who
have been sitting there for centuries reading Genesis 1:1 : In the
Beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth" --- Prof. Robert
Jastrow founder of Nasa's Goddard Institute. (from his book, 'God and
the
Astronomers. page 116)

There's a long and unflattering tradition of this for Christians -
going all the way back to Paul not seeing Epimenides' paradox for what
it is, and saying "All Cretans are liars. I know this because one of
them said so".
